and found all clean and in order. The number of patients re-

ported to us is 128 males and 14 females.

"We visited the Tung Wa Hospital this day

and found it clean and in good order, a most marked improve-

ment on its condition in 1894. It would appear the Visiting

and House Surgeons have little control over the servants

of the establishment and no voice whatever in their appoint-

ment. This should be remedied, to improve the efficiency of

the Hospital.

V. Note 7.

*It is a pity more of the Fever patients are

not being treated according to Western methods, which would

have considerably shortened the prolonged stay of some of

them in Hospital. The Directors might be induced to persuade

the Chinese doctors to use Quinine in all malarial cas es
